Khao Takiab

Monkey Mountain Temple

About

Khao Takiab, meaning "Chopstick Mountain," is a small rocky headland located about 7km south of Hua Hin. The hilltop temple offers some of the best panoramic views in the area, overlooking the coastline and the Gulf of Thailand.

The mountain is home to a large population of macaque monkeys who freely roam the area. While they add character to the site, be cautious with food and belongings—these monkeys are bold and experienced at snatching items from visitors.

At the summit, you'll find Buddhist temples and shrines, including a large standing Buddha statue. The climb up the stairs is moderate and takes about 15-20 minutes. The temple grounds are peaceful and offer a serene atmosphere for reflection.

At the base of the hill, there's a pleasant beach area that's quieter than central Hua Hin, along with seafood restaurants offering fresh catches with ocean views.
