November to February is peak season—dry, cool, perfect beach weather. March to May gets hot (35°C+). Rainy season (June-October) means fewer tourists and lower prices, though it doesn't rain all day.
Rent a scooter (150-200฿/day) or grab a songthaew (shared taxi, 10-20฿). Grab app works here too. Town's small enough to explore easily. Taxis are available but negotiate the price first.
The main night market runs every evening on Dechanuchit Road from around 5pm. Best street food, cheap clothes, and people watching. Go hungry and bring cash.
The beach stretches for miles. Early morning and sunset are magic hours. You can rent horses for beach rides—it's as romantic as it sounds. Beach chairs available for 100฿/day.
ATMs everywhere. Many places take card but street vendors are cash only. Exchange rates at banks are better than hotels. 7-Eleven ATMs charge 220฿ fee for foreign cards.
Street food is safe and delicious (30-60฿). Thai restaurants run 80-150฿ per dish. Western restaurants 200-400฿. Seafood restaurants on the beach can be pricey—check prices first.

Kitesurfing November-March, stand-up paddleboarding, kayaking. Khao Tao and Suan Son beaches are quieter than main Hua Hin beach. Watch out for jellyfish during rainy season.
Central Hua Hin is walkable and lively. Khao Takiab is quieter, artsy vibe. Khao Tao for beach life. Black Mountain for golf and peace. Budget guesthouses from 400฿, nice hotels 2000-5000฿.
Pranburi mangroves (30min south), Sam Roi Yot National Park (1hr), Kaeng Krachan National Park (2hrs). Cha-am beach (30min north). All easily done as day trips.
Hua Hin has 8+ world-class golf courses. Black Mountain, Banyan, and Springfield are top picks. Green fees 2000-5000฿. Book online for better rates. Caddies mandatory, tip 300-500฿.
Tourist SIM cards at 7-Eleven or airport. AIS, TrueMove, and dtac all work well. 299฿ gets you unlimited data for a week. Most cafes and restaurants have free WiFi.
Hua Hin is very safe. Bangkok Hospital Hua Hin is excellent (English-speaking). Pharmacies everywhere. Drink bottled water. Use sunscreen—the sun is brutal. Mosquito repellent for evenings.
Basic Thai helps: Sawasdee (hello), Khob khun (thanks), Mai pen rai (no worries), Aroi (delicious). English widely spoken in tourist areas. Google Translate works offline if you download Thai.
Dress modestly at temples (cover shoulders/knees). Remove shoes entering homes and temples. Don't touch people's heads. Feet are considered lowest—don't point them at Buddha images or people.
