Itinerary

Perfect Weekend Escape from Bangkok

48 hours in Hua Hin that won't disappoint

Sick of Bangkok's pollution and traffic? Here's how to maximize a weekend in Hua Hin without wasting a single hour.

Friday Evening (Arrive 6pm)

Take the 3pm bus or train from Bangkok. Check into your hotel by 6pm. Don't waste time unpacking—hit the night market immediately. Eat everything: pad thai, grilled seafood, mango sticky rice. This is dinner and entertainment in one. Budget 2 hours, spend 300฿, be happy.

Saturday Morning (Beach Time)

Wake up early (7am). The beach is magical before tourists arrive. Swim, walk, rent a horse (200฿). Get breakfast from beach vendors—fresh fruit and iced coffee. By 10am find a beach chair spot and commit to doing absolutely nothing for 2 hours. This is the whole point of coming.

Saturday Afternoon (Culture Bit)

Grab lunch at a local place (not beachfront). Drive to Khao Takiab temple. Climb to the top, see the monkey mountain, take photos. Takes 90 minutes max. Back to hotel for shower and AC nap.

Saturday Evening (Best Meal)

This is your big dinner. Either Daddy Deli, Harvest, or Laem Hin Seafood depending on your budget. Follow with drinks at Bar Tigre or Sky Bar. Or go low-key with beers at a beach bar. Both are correct answers.

Sunday Morning (Decision Time)

Option A: Sam Roi Yot cave hike (leave 7am, back by 1pm). Epic but tiring.
Option B: Lazy brunch, final beach time, massage, and chill. Also epic, less tiring.
Choose based on energy levels and Friday's drinking.

Sunday Afternoon (Head Home)

Catch the 3pm bus/train. You'll be home by 7pm, showered and in bed by 9pm, ready for Monday but actually relaxed for once.

The Key Points:

  • Leave Bangkok by 3pm Friday or you'll hit traffic
  • Stay central Hua Hin for walkability
  • Do the tourist stuff but also just sit on the beach
  • One nice dinner, otherwise eat local/street food
  • Don't over-plan, this is supposed to be relaxing

This itinerary works every time. Done it 50+ times. You'll come back refreshed, you'll have tan lines, and Monday won't feel quite so awful.
